BioWreck is a unique dive site near Pemuteran in West Bali, where an intentionally sunk structure has been enhanced with Biorock technology—low-voltage electrical current passed through metal frames to accelerate coral growth. The result is an artificial reef covered in thriving coral colonies that has attracted a diverse community of marine life in a remarkably short time. The structure provides habitat for lionfish, scorpionfish, moray eels, and swirling schools of glassfish, while nudibranchs and flatworms populate the coral-encrusted surfaces. Frogfish and seahorses are regularly spotted among the frames, making it excellent for macro photography. Sitting in shallow water between 5 and 15 meters with no current, BioWreck is accessible to all certification levels and serves as a fascinating example of coral reef restoration technology in action, combining conservation science with rewarding diving.
