Napoleon Reef is a popular dive site at Menjangan Island in West Bali National Park, named after the large Napoleon wrasse that are regularly encountered here. The site features Menjangan's characteristic vertical wall dropping from a shallow hard coral reef at 3 meters to about 40 meters, adorned with impressive gorgonian fans, barrel sponges, and soft corals. The Napoleon wrasse that give the site its name are typically approachable and unafraid of divers, allowing for close-up encounters with these charismatic reef residents. Sea turtles are frequently spotted, along with schools of batfish, fusiliers, and sweetlips. The wall's crevices shelter moray eels, lobsters, and cleaning stations, while the reef top provides excellent hard coral gardens for safety stops. Crystal-clear visibility and calm conditions make Napoleon Reef one of the most accessible and rewarding wall dives at Menjangan, suitable for intermediate divers and above.
