Kubu and the Boga Wreck form a fascinating dive site near Tulamben on Bali's northeast coast, centered around a purpose-sunk cargo vessel resting on a black sand slope between 12 and 30 meters. The wreck was intentionally scuttled to create an artificial reef and has been rapidly colonized by hard and soft corals, sponges, and hydroids, attracting a thriving community of reef fish including batfish, sweetlips, and lionfish. Large moray eels inhabit the hull compartments, while nudibranchs and flatworms carpet the encrusted surfaces. The surrounding muck area is excellent for macro photography with frogfish, ghost pipefish, and various crustaceans regularly spotted. The wreck's open structure allows safe penetration for appropriately trained divers, and the easy shore access and calm conditions make it a fantastic complement to the nearby USAT Liberty.
