Magnet is an aptly named dive site in Belongas Bay, south Lombok, that acts as a magnetic attraction for large pelagic species in the nutrient-rich waters of the Alas Strait. This submerged pinnacle rises from deep water, creating an upwelling point where currents converge and concentrate marine life. Schooling hammerhead sharks are the primary draw, along with grey reef sharks, white-tip reef sharks, and massive schools of trevally, barracuda, and surgeonfish. The rock itself is covered in soft corals and sponges, with cleaner wrasses working busy stations. Manta rays and mobula rays occasionally pass through, and the surrounding blue water promises surprises on every dive. The site's strong and unpredictable currents, deep water exposure, and remote location make it exclusively for advanced divers, but Magnet consistently delivers the kind of shark encounters that put Belongas Bay on the world diving map.
