Sunken Island is an intermediate dive in the Secret Gilis of Southwest Lombok, where a submerged reef pinnacle rises from the sandy seabed to within 5 meters of the surface, creating a compact underwater island descending to 28 meters. The pinnacle's summit is crowned with healthy hard corals and swirling schools of glassfish that attract hunting trevally and bluefin tuna. The slopes feature a mix of boulder corals, soft coral clusters, and sea fans oriented to catch the mild currents flowing through the channel. Whitetip reef sharks occasionally rest on the sandy bottom around the pinnacle's base, and reef octopuses are commonly spotted hunting in the coral rubble. The site's isolated position in open water means visibility is often excellent, and the sense of diving an underwater mountain far from shore adds an adventurous dimension to this Secret Gilis gem.
