Tetawa Besar is a thrilling advanced dive in Komodo National Park, where a large island's reef system descends through dramatic coral gardens to 38 meters along current-swept slopes. The site is renowned for its healthy hard coral coverage—massive table corals and Porites bommies create a complex three-dimensional habitat buzzing with reef activity. The current that sweeps across the reef attracts impressive aggregations of fusiliers, surgeonfish, and rainbow runners, while whitetip reef sharks rest in sandy channels between coral formations. Napoleon wrasse are commonly spotted here, their curious nature often bringing them within arm's reach of divers. The shallower reef crest explodes with color from soft corals and anemones hosting multiple clownfish species. Tetawa Besar offers a quintessential Komodo dive experience combining big fish encounters with spectacular reef scenery, all set against the park's legendary current-fueled productivity.
