The Necklace is a beginner-friendly dive site on the Dingle Peninsula in Kerry, Ireland, where a chain of rocky reefs between 8 and 16 meters forms a necklace-like pattern across the seabed. The reef structures are richly covered with jewel anemones, dead man's fingers soft coral, and colorful encrusting sponges that transform the rocks into a tapestry of purples, oranges, and yellows. Kelp canopies shelter ballan wrasse and goldsinny wrasse, while pollack hunt in small packs above the reef. The gaps between the reef sections create natural swim-throughs where lobsters and large edible crabs take up residence. Nudibranchs are a highlight, with several species found on the hydroid-covered rock faces. The moderate depth and sheltered location make The Necklace suitable for newer divers, while the photogenic marine life provides plenty of interest for experienced underwater photographers exploring Ireland's Atlantic coastline.
