Bay of Sunshine Cave is a beginner-friendly dive site near Taormina on Sicily's eastern coast, offering an accessible cave experience in shallow waters to 16 meters. The cave entrance is wide and well-lit, opening into a chamber where sunlight streams through natural openings in the ceiling, creating the luminous effect that gives the site its name. Inside, the walls shimmer with orange cup corals and delicate sea fans, while cardinalfish hover in the half-light zones. The surrounding bay features a gentle slope of volcanic rock covered in Posidonia meadows, where seahorses, pipefish, and juvenile fish find shelter. This site perfectly combines the thrill of cave diving with the safety of shallow depths, making it one of Taormina's most popular introductory dives.
