Zu Innaru Rock is a beginner-friendly dive site along the coast near Taormina in eastern Sicily, where a submerged rock formation creates an accessible underwater playground. The site sits in the shadow of Mount Etna, whose volcanic geology shapes the dramatic basalt seabed. Shallow depths allow ample bottom time to explore rock shelves carpeted with Neptune grass and dotted with colorful nudibranchs. Schools of chromis and damselfish swirl around the rocky outcrops, while octopuses and moray eels occupy the many holes and crevices. The protected position offers calm conditions even when other sites face currents, making it popular for training dives and first open-water experiences along this spectacular stretch of Sicilian coastline.
