Genn'e Mari is an advanced dive site on Sardinia's southeastern coast, where a complex underwater canyon system carved into the seabed reaches 35 meters depth. The site's Sardinian name translates roughly to 'mouth of the sea,' describing how the canyon opens toward deeper waters. The walls of the gorge are lined with impressive gorgonian fans and false black coral, while the sandy canyon floor reveals traces of ancient geological processes. Strong currents can sweep through the channel, bringing nutrient-rich water that attracts schools of barracuda, amberjack, and large dentex. Moray eels and conger eels are abundant in the canyon walls' many crevices. The combination of dramatic topography, strong currents, and prolific marine life makes Genn'e Mari one of the most exciting dive sites in the Cagliari province for experienced divers.
