Romagna is an advanced wreck dive site off southern Sardinia, where the Italian cargo vessel Romagna lies at 40 meters depth after sinking during World War II. The wreck has become one of the area's premier artificial reefs, with the ship's substantial steel structure providing extensive habitat for marine life. The hull, though broken in places, still defines the vessel's outline, and divers can navigate along the length of the ship observing the progressive colonization of its surfaces. Dense gorgonian gardens drape the higher structures, while the interior holds populations of large groupers, conger eels, and schools of bream. The sandy perimeter around the wreck attracts flatfish and rays. At 40 meters, the dive requires careful gas management and decompression planning, but the Romagna's size and biological richness make it one of Sardinia's most rewarding deep wreck experiences.
