Entella is an advanced dive site on Sardinia's southeastern coast near Cagliari, named after the Italian cargo ship that sank here, now resting at 18 meters depth. The wreck of the Entella has become a thriving artificial reef, its steel structure heavily colonized by marine life over the decades. The hull and superstructure are draped in gorgonians, sponges, and dense mussel beds, while large groupers have claimed the interior compartments as their territory. Schools of barracuda frequently circle the wreck, and moray eels peer from portholes and ventilation shafts. The wreck sits upright on a sandy bottom, making it relatively easy to navigate despite the advanced rating driven by occasional current. Penetration of the interior requires wreck diving certification, but the exterior alone offers a rich dive with numerous photo opportunities among the encrusted structures and abundant marine life.
