Gorgone One is a beginner-friendly dive site in Aqaba, Jordan, centered around a small cargo vessel intentionally sunk to create an artificial reef. The wreck rests upright in shallow water, making it one of the most accessible wreck dives in the Red Sea. Soft corals have transformed the vessel's steel structure into a living sculpture, with purple and pink dendronephthya coating the railings, masts, and hull. Dense schools of glassfish inhabit the cargo holds, creating shimmering curtains of silver that part as divers approach. Lionfish hover motionless among the coral growth, while moray eels peer from engine room openings. The surrounding sandy seabed hosts blue-spotted stingrays and garden eels. Gorgone One serves as a perfect introduction to wreck diving in the Red Sea, offering the thrill of exploring a sunken ship in safe, shallow conditions with abundant marine life at every turn.
