Gorgone II & III is a beginner-friendly dive site in Aqaba, Jordan, named for two small cargo vessels intentionally sunk close together to create an interconnected artificial reef complex. Resting at shallow depths between 6 and 16 meters, these wrecks are completely safe for novice divers while offering engaging exploration opportunities. Both vessels are heavily colonized by soft corals — vibrant dendronephthya in pinks, purples, and oranges drape every surface. The wrecks attract dense schools of glassfish that swirl through the holds, lionfish that patrol the corridors, and groupers that claim the bridge areas. The proximity of the two wrecks allows divers to visit both in a single dive, swimming over the coral-covered sand between them. At night, the wrecks come alive with hunting scorpionfish, basket stars unfurling their arms, and fluorescent corals glowing under torch light.
