Yallow Stone Reef is an advanced dive site in Aqaba, Jordan, named for the distinctive yellowish limestone formations that characterize its underwater landscape. The reef descends to 35 meters over a slope featuring these warm-toned rock structures interspersed with coral growth. The limestone creates natural overhangs, small caves, and crevices that provide shelter for a diverse community of marine life. Large groupers and Napoleon wrasse inhabit the deeper sections, while the shallower reef hosts dense coral gardens alive with anthias, butterflyfish, and wrasses. The yellow stone surfaces attract specialized encrusting organisms, creating a subtly different biological community compared to basalt-based sites nearby. Scorpionfish and stonefish blend expertly with the yellowed surfaces — attentive divers are rewarded with these well-camouflaged finds. The site's depth and occasional currents require advanced skills, but the unique geology and rich marine encounters justify the effort.
