Tank is a unique dive site in Aqaba, Jordan, where a decommissioned M42 Duster anti-aircraft tank was intentionally sunk to create an unusual artificial reef. Resting on a sandy bottom in shallow water, the military vehicle has been progressively colonized by corals and marine life, its gun turret now draped in soft corals while hard corals encrust the chassis. The incongruous sight of a battle machine being peacefully reclaimed by the sea makes for memorable photographs. Schools of glassfish swirl around the turret, lionfish patrol the undercarriage, and blue-spotted stingrays rest in the sand nearby. The surrounding reef offers additional coral gardens worth exploring after visiting the tank. This site is part of Aqaba's broader strategy of creating artificial reefs from military equipment, combining underwater conservation with a touch of military history.
