Galu is a beginner-friendly dive site off the Galu Beach section of Kenya's Diani coast, where a fringing reef creates an accessible underwater playground in warm Indian Ocean waters. The reef starts shallow and gently slopes over coral gardens featuring an excellent variety of hard coral species. Table corals create natural shelters where cardinalfish and anthias gather in shimmering schools, while parrotfish and wrasses methodically work the reef surface. The site is known for its friendly green turtles that regularly rest on the reef and allow close approaches from respectful divers. Lionfish are commonly seen sheltering under coral overhangs, and blue-spotted ribbontail rays emerge from the sand as divers pass. The warm, clear conditions typical of Diani's coast — with water temperatures rarely dropping below 25°C — make Galu comfortable for extended dives and an excellent site for underwater photography beginners.
