Mwanyaza North is a beginner-friendly dive site off the Diani coast in Kenya, forming the northern section of the Mwanyaza reef system. The site features a gently sloping reef with healthy coral gardens that support a rich variety of Indian Ocean marine life. Hard corals in various growth forms — massive, branching, and encrusting — create a textured landscape where every surface hosts something alive. Cleaner shrimp operate busy stations on prominent coral heads, while butterflyfish and angelfish patrol their territories in pairs. The sandy channels between coral formations are productive areas for finding blue-spotted stingrays, garden eels, and foraging goatfish. Sea turtles pass through regularly, and octopuses are commonly spotted changing color among the coral rubble. Mwanyaza North's accessibility and reliable marine encounters make it popular for morning dives from the Diani Beach dive centers.
