Fabrice's Monkey Island is a beginner-friendly dive site near Koh Rong Samloem, Cambodia, named by a local dive instructor who discovered this charming shallow reef near an island frequented by macaque monkeys. At just 8 meters maximum depth, the site is one of the shallowest in the area, making it perfect for discovery dives and snorkeling. The rocky reef is covered with a colorful mix of hard corals, sponges, and encrusting organisms that attract a surprisingly rich community of small marine life. Nudibranchs are a specialty here, with species appearing in extraordinary variety on the encrusted surfaces. Juvenile fish of many species shelter among the coral branches, and tiny crabs and shrimp populate every crevice. The site's proximity to the island means excellent natural lighting conditions throughout the dive. Fabrice's Monkey Island proves that some of Cambodia's most rewarding underwater experiences can be found in the shallowest waters.
