Beady-Eye Bay is a beginner-friendly dive site near Koh Rong island off Sihanoukville, Cambodia, named for the abundance of beady-eyed fish species found among its coral formations. The sheltered bay provides calm conditions with a gentle sandy slope decorated with scattered coral bommies and small reef structures. The site is particularly appealing for its macro life — nudibranchs, tiny shrimp, and colorful flatworms populate the coral surfaces, while seahorses cling to the soft coral fans. Schools of cardinalfish and damselfish hover over the reef structures, creating a lively underwater scene in shallow water. The bay's protected position means conditions are diveable year-round, even during the monsoon season when other sites may be too rough. Beady-Eye Bay is a perfect introduction to Cambodian diving, showcasing the country's surprising underwater diversity in a relaxed, uncrowded setting that captures the laid-back charm of the Koh Rong archipelago.
