Koh Pulau Wai is an advanced dive site in the remote Gulf of Thailand waters near the maritime border zone between Vietnam and Cambodia — an isolated island in the far southwestern corner of Vietnamese marine territory that offers advanced divers access to some of the least-visited and most pristine reef diving in Southeast Asia. The site's remote position, requiring a significant boat journey from either Phu Quoc Island or Rach Gia on the Vietnamese mainland, means that the reef here receives minimal diving pressure and has developed the untouched character that enthusiasts of remote diving seek above all else. Depths reach approximately 40 meters (about 130 feet) in the deeper sections of the reef, putting the full depth profile firmly in advanced territory and requiring appropriate training and experience to explore safely. The coral reef at Koh Pulau Wai features the diverse growth forms of the Gulf of Thailand's better-preserved reef systems: massive Porites coral formations of impressive age and size, table corals creating canopy structures in the shallower zones, and the encrusting and soft corals that fill the structural spaces on the deeper reef slopes. The fish community reflects the remote location and minimal fishing pressure: large grouper populations claim structural features with the confidence of animals that have never encountered spearfishing; napoleon wrasse — severely depleted at most Vietnamese reef sites — have been documented at remote Gulf of Thailand reefs where protection is effective; and reef shark populations are in better condition than at more visited locations. The journey to Koh Pulau Wai itself is an adventure, and the diving rewards the effort with some of the most memorable and least-disturbed reef encounters available in Vietnamese waters.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
