The Muff in Nova Scotia is an intermediate dive site featuring a distinctive underwater mound or reef structure that rises from the surrounding seabed. The elevated formation creates a focal point for marine life, with the upwelling current around the muff concentrating nutrients and attracting schooling fish. The structure's surfaces are covered with plumose anemones, sponges, and kelp. Large lobsters inhabit the base, while cunner and pollock school above. The surrounding sandy areas provide contrast for spotting flatfish and tracking moon snails. A unique local site that provides consistently good marine encounters at an accessible intermediate depth.
