Blue Moon is a captivating dive site near Amed on Bali's northeast coast, featuring a dramatic underwater landscape of volcanic boulders and coral formations. The site gets its name from the ethereal blue light that filters through the water, creating a moody atmosphere over the dark volcanic substrate. The rocky reef descends from shallow waters to beyond 30 meters, with healthy hard corals, sea fans, and barrel sponges colonizing the boulders. Leaf scorpionfish, frogfish, and nudibranchs provide excellent macro subjects, while schools of sweetlips and snappers add to the scene. The deeper sections occasionally host white-tip reef sharks and eagle rays. Currents can be moderate to strong, making Blue Moon best suited for experienced divers. The site is usually dived as a boat dive from Amed and pairs well with the area's other renowned dive sites.
