The Japanese Shipwreck near Amed is one of Bali's most accessible wreck dives, a small Japanese patrol boat from World War II resting on a sandy slope between 6 and 12 meters depth. Despite its modest size—roughly 10 meters long—the wreck has become a thriving artificial reef hosting an impressive variety of marine life. Coral growth covers much of the hull, providing habitat for lionfish, scorpionfish, moray eels, and schools of glassfish that swirl inside the structure. Nudibranchs, flatworms, and cleaner shrimp populate the encrusted surfaces, while the surrounding sand is home to blue-spotted stingrays and garden eels. The shallow depth and calm conditions make it perfect for beginners and snorkelers, while the rich macro life provides ample entertainment for experienced divers and photographers. Easy shore access from Amed's Lipah Beach adds to the convenience.
