Golden Rock is a striking dive site near Amed in eastern Bali, named for the warm golden hue of the rocky reef formation when illuminated by sunlight filtering through the clear tropical water. The site features a series of coral-encrusted volcanic boulders and pinnacles descending from 8 to about 35 meters, creating an interesting topography of overhangs, crevices, and swim-throughs. The rocks are covered in vibrant soft corals, sponges, and sea fans, while resident marine life includes leaf scorpionfish, frogfish, and various species of nudibranchs. Schools of sweetlips and snappers congregate around the larger formations, and white-tip reef sharks occasionally rest in the deeper overhangs. The site offers both macro and wide-angle photography opportunities, and moderate currents keep the reef healthy and the fish life active. Golden Rock is a rewarding dive for intermediate to advanced divers exploring Amed's diverse underwater landscape.
