Melasti is a peaceful dive site near Amed on Bali's northeast coast, offering a gentle coral slope ideal for relaxed diving and underwater photography. The site features a black sand and coral rubble slope descending from 5 to about 20 meters, with patches of healthy hard coral and scattered soft coral formations. The calm conditions and easy shore access make it particularly popular for training dives and snorkeling, though the marine life is diverse enough to engage experienced divers. Garden eels sway in the sandy areas, while nudibranchs, flatworms, and shrimp gobies reward patient observers. Cuttlefish and octopus are regularly spotted, and small schools of reef fish including damselfish, wrasses, and butterflyfish animate the reef. Melasti provides a tranquil underwater experience with the spectacular backdrop of Mount Agung rising behind the traditional fishing boats above.
