The Labyrinth is an advanced dive site in Belongas Bay off the south coast of Lombok, featuring a complex underwater rock formation that creates an exciting maze of channels, swim-throughs, and overhangs. The volcanic rock structures descend to about 30 meters and are covered in soft corals and sponges, while the channels between them funnel currents that attract schooling hammerhead sharks—the region's star attraction. Grey reef sharks, white-tip reef sharks, and schools of trevally patrol the channels, while eagle rays and barracuda sweep through the blue water between the rock formations. The labyrinthine topography provides shelter from the strongest currents in certain areas, allowing divers to watch the pelagic action from protected positions. Strong, unpredictable currents and the remote location make The Labyrinth exclusively for experienced divers, but the combination of dramatic topography and exceptional shark encounters makes Belongas Bay one of Lombok's most thrilling diving destinations.
