First Bay North is an intermediate dive site in Aqaba, Jordan, covering the northern section of the popular First Bay area. The reef extends deeper here than its southern counterpart, reaching 30 meters along a coral-covered slope. The northern exposure brings slightly more current, which in turn attracts larger marine life. The coral coverage is excellent, with healthy stands of table coral, massive Porites formations, and colorful soft coral accents. Schools of fusiliers stream past in the blue water, while resident groupers hold court among the larger coral heads. The deeper sections offer encounters with larger pelagics including occasional barracuda schools and eagle rays. Nudibranchs and flatworms provide excellent macro photography subjects on the coral surfaces. First Bay North bridges the gap between the gentle introduction of the main bay and Aqaba's more advanced sites further south.
