First Bay South is an intermediate dive site in Aqaba, Jordan, offering the southern portion of the well-known First Bay reef system. The reef slopes gradually to 30 meters over a series of coral-covered terraces, with excellent hard coral diversity including large table corals that create natural shelters for schooling fish. The southern section tends to be slightly calmer than the north, with less current influence creating comfortable conditions for leisurely exploration. The coral gardens are particularly photogenic, with soft coral accents in lavender and pink complementing the structured hard coral formations. Turtles are frequently sighted grazing on the reef, and octopuses are common among the coral rubble zones. The intermediate depth range allows extended bottom times, making it excellent for photography dives and skill practice in a beautiful Red Sea setting.
