MV Funguo is an advanced wreck dive site off the Diani coast in Kenya, where a former cargo vessel was deliberately sunk to create an artificial reef. The wreck rests on the sandy seabed and has become extensively colonized by marine life over the years. The ship's structure provides a dramatic backdrop of corroding metal draped in soft corals, sponges, and hydroids, while the interior compartments shelter dense schools of glassfish, snappers, and cardinalfish. Large groupers have established territories around the bridge and engine room areas, and moray eels occupy openings throughout the hull. Lionfish patrol the overhangs and corridors in impressive numbers. The surrounding sandy bottom attracts rays and occasional passing pelagics. The MV Funguo is Diani's premier wreck dive, offering an exciting combination of wreck exploration and abundant Indian Ocean marine life for experienced divers.
