Galu is an intermediate dive site off the Diani coast in Kenya, extending to 30 meters over a well-developed reef system. This deeper version of the Galu reef area offers more advanced terrain with larger coral formations, deeper walls, and more frequent encounters with pelagic species. The reef structure features impressive overhangs and small caves where large groupers shelter, while the outer reef edge attracts schools of barracuda and trevally. Gorgonian fans and soft corals adorn the deeper walls, creating a colorful backdrop for the busy fish activity. Reef sharks occasionally patrol the deeper sections, and eagle rays are spotted gliding over the sand. The site's intermediate depth range provides a good balance of bottom time and marine life diversity, making it popular for experienced divers seeking more than the shallow beginner-friendly reefs closer to shore while still enjoying Diani's warm, clear Indian Ocean conditions.
