MV Alpha Funguo is an advanced wreck dive site off the Diani coast in Kenya, where a former vessel rests at 31 meters on the sandy seabed. The wreck has developed into a thriving artificial reef, with the hull and superstructure heavily colonized by soft corals, sponges, and hydroids. Dense schools of glassfish inhabit the interior spaces, creating shimmering silver clouds that part dramatically as divers pass through. Large groupers and barracuda are permanent residents, while lionfish patrol every overhang and doorway. The wreck sits upright, allowing divers to swim the full length and explore the bridge and cargo areas. At 31 meters, bottom time is limited, making each dive a focused exploration of different sections. The MV Alpha Funguo offers experienced divers an excellent combination of wreck exploration and Indian Ocean marine life, complementing the shallower wreck dives available along the Diani coast.
